As I, a veritable Time Bill Gates (TL Note: A Korean slang term for someone with an abundance of free time, humorously comparing them to Bill Gates’s wealth, but with time instead of money), pondered how to best squander my day by browsing trending posts, a particular article caught my eye.
[Title: Has anyone been to Gyeonggi Gwangju Station yesterday?]
Damn it.
Yesterday, I was simply sitting on the subway, not thinking of anything in particular.
My eyes felt heavy, so I lifted my head, only to notice something unsettling.
The people sitting there…
They were all pretending—some to look at their phones, others to doze off, and still others to read books.
Each person acted differently,
But, damn it, if they were going to hide something, they should have done it properly.
Their eyes.
Only their eyes were all fixed on the same spot.
Identically, all staring out the window.
All in the same direction.
Do you know what was even more horrifying?
When I turned my head,
They all simultaneously turned their heads to stare at me.
For a fleeting moment, it felt as though a slab of ice had been poured down my back.
Fortunately, the train arrived at the station just then, and I bolted out.
What I saw as the doors closed is still vivid in my mind.
The people inside the train at that moment.
They were all looking at me, mouthing the same words in unison.
…Return.

–ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Stop spouting such nonsense. That’s near my house.
–I’ve been to Gyeonggi Gwangju Station. What kind of rubbish is this ㅋㅋ
–Kids who believe that probably still think a ghost appears if you turn off the bathroom light.
–Aren’t you just tired and hearing things? Don’t get too carried away (TL Note: ‘Gwamolip’ refers to becoming overly immersed or invested in a fictional scenario or story).
–I think I heard this a few years ago? The original poster probably just embellished it a bit.
I was about to dismiss it, but then I noticed the location mentioned by the original poster.
Gyeonggi Gwangju Station.
Coincidentally, the place they mentioned was close to my house.
In fact, it was right in my neighborhood.
Had it been somewhere far, I would have abandoned the idea, but being jobless and unemployed, I considered it perfectly suitable.
As a chance to get some fresh air.
That distance was no issue.
–I’ll go check it out.
I immediately hit enter and rose from my seat.
Having died and been reborn, nothing had really changed, and I was utterly bored.
Usually, when one is reincarnated into another world (TL Note: ‘Isekai,’ a genre where a character is transported or reborn into a different world), don’t they receive some kind of special perk?
Unfortunately, neither my mind nor my body was particularly exceptional.
Ah, except for one thing.
What I considered fortunate was that I had been reborn in the modern era, not a medieval or fantasy world.
‘Ugh. How would anyone even survive in a place like that?’
To all my senior reincarnators who came before me, I offer my deepest condolences.
Go suffer.
–But what was written at the end there?
–What’s supposed to be visible? I don’t see anything?
–Isn’t this just clickbait (TL Note: ‘Eogeuro’ is a Korean slang term, derived from ‘aggro’ in gaming, referring to content designed to provoke or attract attention, often negatively, like clickbait)?
